Darla ???

In the infamous wisdom (and voice of Steve Martin)…. I wasn’t always Darla, I was born a poor white child. I grew up into a poor teen with a very wide sometimes crass vocabulary and an ear for music . Often categorized as a smart ass and know it all, though i beg to differ. I would say i was a well read youth who’s visions and ideas were not someone else opinion. With a penchant for telling the truth (no matter how hard it hurt you) these truths often got me into more trouble than any lie or bad behavior would or did. With this much to say i needed a safe place and vehicle to express myself. The result after 40 plus years is over 400 songs written and or recorded. I quit counting several years ago at a little over 250 and few of those might shock you. LOL

I Guess eclectic would describe my musical tastes and endeavors. I guess you could call my music “soft hard rock pop country punk with a southern northern flair”. Feel free to call it what you want ! I always believed there are no boundaries or rules in music. The only thing that matters is does it sound good, either pleasing or shocking to the ear and can you do that again. I have always played original music as opposed to someone else music. Its like wearing someone else underwear. You would do it if you had to but you prefer your own ! This isn’t Ripley but, I remember coming up with and singing my own song in the bath tub with Mr Bubbles (no not him, powdered soap bubbles for lil kids). It was a song about a ghost wearing poca-dots and squares. Ah those golden days of age 8 or 9, It would be a few more years before i put that musical prowess to work.

My first band was called SAYTR and didn’t make it out of the dining room. Soon though I would hook up with a couple buddy’s and URBAN DESRE was born. We had a real nice 5 year run or so. From the ashes of URBAN DESIRE rose WHATS LEFT, a nifty little 3 piece band that formed the building blocks for a band I called LOST CHARLIE. Special thanks to Kevin for his lost charlie face!! Probably the best times of my life musically speaking as a performer. There were many different lineups of LOST CHARLIE, but only one constant…ME.

We lost Charlie in 1996. Who knows if he will ever be found again, we found him once, Never say never ! With Charlie lost, I formed AZ-IZ. A sweet little 3 piece with a bunch more songs. Making a major move in location i became musician-less and writing more than ever song after song. I needed a new project and I became the proud papa of a band called DARLA DANGER and on a 19 year run. Even scarier, I hear Darla has an alter ego (go figure) SISTER SATIVA. Rumor is she will debut in Jan 2020. Are there any more brothers, sisters, cousins or alter egos? God only knows! With that being said, good or bad, naughty or nice II bear my soul for the world to hear. Remember there are only 3 things for certain….DEATH, TAXES AND YOU CAN’T HEAR IT ANY WHERE ELSE
